The workhorse of modern closet systems is thermally fused laminate over a high-density core: dimensionally stable, humidity-resistant, and available in woodgrains that read convincingly warm. It is what keeps shelves straight under fifty pounds of denim.
Where veneer and solid wood belong
Veneer and solid wood earn their place where hands and eyes linger — island tops, drawer fronts, trim. Used as accents over a laminate carcass, they deliver the furniture feel without the movement problems solid panels develop in humid climates.
Judge quality by the edges and the hardware
The tells of cabinetry built to be used daily for decades are small and consistent:
- One-millimeter edge banding that won't peel at a corner
- Soft-close undermount slides rated for full extension
- Adjustable shelf pins in metal sleeves, not bare holes
You can see these materials in the wardrobes we build.
